Prelude Op. 2, No. 24 in D minor

There is a smoky quality to the music of this prelude, a feeling of unrequited love and of danger lurking just under the surface. This dichotomy is represented in the music by moments of poignant melody contrasted with sinuous, chromatic chords. If you've ever seen "Sunset Boulevard," "Laura," "Double Indemnity," or "Gilda," you will understand what I was trying to capture in this work.
