Prelude and March on St. Agnes

Paul Curnow - Salvation Army South Music Publications
Publisher Desc.  Jeremiah Clarke (1670-1707) is credited with writing "St. Magnus." He served as an organist in Winchester College, St. Paul's Cathedral, and the Chapel Royal at the turn of the eighteenth century. While the tune was originally used as a setting for Psalm 117, it has long been associated with words based on Hebrews 2:9 by Thomas Kelly (1769-1854), an evangelist who built many churches and wrote over 700 hymns. This Prelude and March setting is based on Kelly's hymn: The head that once was crowned with thornsIs crowned with glory now;A royal diadem adornsThe mighty Victor's brow
