Preludio e Ciaconna
Publisher Desc.
Evaristo Felice Dall’Abaco lived at the same time as the great composer Antonia Vivaldi. In fact, it is almost certain that they were aware of each other’s talents. The opening Prelude explores the rich tapestry of part-writing that is indicative of the Late Italian Baroque style. This is followed by Ciaconna which is a continuous set of variations on a constant bass. Cleverly, Dall’Abaco alters the bass line figurations yet preserves the intrinsic harmony. This is a beautiful work that familiarizes players with a number of textures found in Baroque music.
