Publisher Desc.  "Pulse" is an energetic and rhythmic piece with an intense drive throughout. The opening "Vivace" sets the music in motion instantly and never lets off the gas. A constant eighth-note motion pushes the music along as several themes are expressed and developed.  After a  "Meno mosso" section provides a more lyrical contrast, the piece concludes with pure energy as the wind ensemble is divided into two sections: the upper/middle winds tutti versus the low brass, who interrupt the pulsations with quotes of the opening motif.
