Ready for the Storm was written by Dougie MacLean for his great-great-uncle Fergus, a fisherman from the Isle of Mull. It first appeared on MacLean's debut album, Cragie Dhu in 1983. Since then, it has been covered by many artists including Kathy Mattea, The Cottars, Rich Mullins, Celtic Dreams, and Deanta.
Richard Nickerson has created several arrangements for choir of Dougie MacLean's songs, always with the blessing of MacLean.
