Sagebrush Suite
Publisher Desc.
Sagebrush Suite is a major orchestral work by Gary Robert Buchanan in seven movements around 22 minutes in length. This audience-pleaser is playable by any advanced community, college, or professional orchestra. The music is that of the real American West: sonic images of the land, the people, and their lives. It has been performed numerous times by several orchestras, e.g. as an instrumental, as music accompanying poetry, and even as a ballet. Sagebrush Suite was commissioned in 1993 by the Northern Nevada Concert Orchestra Association in 1993 and premiered by that orchestra in Elko, Nevada, April 16, 1994. The inspiration for the suite came from the poems of the late cowgirl poet, Sue Wallis, who for several years delivered her poems at the International Cowboy Poetry Gathering held in Elko each winter.
