Scales, Chords, Arpeggios and Cadences
These excellent, all-inclusive books offer instruction in playing scales, chords, arpeggios and cadences. The First Book accommodates the learning pace of the intermediate-level student and features major and harmonic minor scales in the following ways: 2 octave scales in parallel and contrary motion; cadences in three positions; and two-octave arpeggios in root position, first inversion and second inversion. The Basic and Complete Books are very similar and are appropriate for the early advanced student. Both books include scales in parallel motion, thirds, sixths, and scales in contrary motion; triads in root position; cadences in three positions; two-octave arpeggios and dominant seventh arpeggios. The Complete Book features everything in the Basic book plus extra features: a 12-page explanation of the fundamentals of major and minor scales, chords, arpeggios and cadences; a clear explanation of scale degrees; and a two-page guide to fingering scales and arpeggios. "Enrichment Options" are found at the end of the Complete Book, expanding upon and offering options to the technique previously presented.
