The idea of composing an attractive, classically based composition for children to enjoy was the initial inspiration behind this piece. The first movement is entitled Serenata and is, as the name suggests, serene in style, melodically based, moderate in tempo, and can be played as a stand-alone movement. The second movement tells a story and is aptly entitled Let Me Tell You How It Started. It is a rhythmically based movement with many changes in time signature in a bright and breezy style. The final movement, After the Storm, is harmonically based and designed to bring the ending of this piece to a calm and peaceful conclusion. Three contrasting movements that will be an interesting contribution to programs for a young orchestra. Duration: 8.15
