Slittin' Sam (The Shaychet Man)

Al Epstein/Arr. Manny Albam - Jazz Lines Publications
This tune was written by baritone saxophonist Al Epstein (shaychet is the Yiddish word for Kosher butcher). Manny Albam took the tune and crafted a great arrangement that was first recorded by Terry Gibbs on his "Swingin' with the Terry Gibbs Orchestra" album in 1956. The Dream Band recorded it in 1959. Originally featuring vibes, alternate solo parts have been included to feature any instrumentalist.
