A Trombone solo feature, Super Frank is an up tempo swing chart written for Ashley Alexander for his first album, "Ashley Alexander and His Alumni Band." At Ashley's request, the work was written as a tribute to the recently deceased Frank Rosolino, hence the title. Wolking developed the melody by analyzing many of Rosolino's licks and incorporating them into a virtuosic 32 bar head for Alexander. Though it is a straight ahead bebop tune, Ashley commented that it posed one of his biggest challenges for the album. For the record, he nailed it. This is a classic feature for a talented bebop trombonist and energetic big band. Instrumentation: 5 Saxes (no doubles), 4 Trumpets (with optional 5th), 5 Trombones (1 solo plus 4), G/P/B/D. The Trumpet 1 ranges goes to written high E-flat.
