Tain't No Use at All
This chart has been transcribed from the fine Jerry Gray chart written for the Glenn Miller band. Originally scored for six brass, it has been augmented up to a full eight voices. The alto sax and trumpet solos are improvised from the chords provided. As with many Miller charts, much use is made of a repeating riff theme, taken by the reeds. The structure of the chart is an eight measure introduction, full chorus, eight measure bridge, three quarter chorus for solos, an unexpected half-step modulation to a four measure bridge, then a half-chorus re-statement of the theme to close. There are no saxophone doubles.
