The Light highlights three beloved verses from the Prologue of John's Gospel. This beautiful SATB anthem features two unaccompanied chant-like passages for unison men and a short section for female voices, interspersed with majestic, powerful, full choir and piano settings. This is a very dramatic piece with bold dynamic contrasts. After its dramatic peak on the word Light, it concludes with a lovely and tender Alleluia, Amen which can also be used as a benediction response.
