The Lowlands of Scotland
English folksongs have traditionally been a rich melodic source of material for the wind band. Ralph Vaughn Williams wrote this in 1912 and it's one of the loveliest of the many hundreds he collected. With limited technical demands it exploits the varied colors available with concert band instrumentation.
