The Renaissance Sight-Singing Series
Using the rules and conventions of 16th century counterpoint, the sound and flavor of Renaissance polyphony has been preserved in this elegant series of graded original compositions. Beginning with simple, step-wise motion, the compositions increase in difficulty and complexity where the independent voice parts create ever-changing modal and tonal harmonies, so characteristic of the period. Melodic imitation between the voices helps to develop listening skills, as well as understanding and appreciation for the music of this period. Since the compositions are mostly polyphonic, every voice part is melodic and of equal interest and importance in the creation of beautifully interweaving textures. The five volume series is available in separate editions for SATB, SAB, SSA, TTB and TBB choirs. Fully reproducible and available as a digital download, this series presents material that you can use again and again.
