The Seven Last Words of Christ
This lenten masterpiece is a standard in choral libraries for good reason. Hal Hopson has artfully retained all the drama and poignancy of the original using the solo and choral parts exactly as Dubois wrote them with incidental rhythmic alterations to accomadate the new English translation. The flexibility is derived from the various accompaniment options. It may be effectively played with Organ alone as found in the choral score; choral score Organ with Flute A, Harp, and Timpani; choral score Organ with Flute B, Oboe, Harp, and Timpani; or a Chamber Orchestra of Strings, Flutes, Oboe, Harp, Timpani and a distinctive Organ part separate from the choral score and Conductor's score. Compelling, performance time 45 minutes.
