Thee and Me

This score combines Joshua Shoemaker's three favorite hymns: "Abide With Me", "Nearer, My God to Thee", and "I Need Thee Every Hour". These hymns are combined not only because they bless others with their pastoral characteristics, but also they masterfully describe a similar theme: the power of presence. All three melodies are delicately woven together to provide a pastoral mage of God walking and conversing with His creation. More specifically, God's pastoral presence is sounded in many different, yet connected ways. God's walk and conversation is very intimate and gentle. Yet, despite the intimacy, the conversation can become a roller coaster of emotions, as reflected in the score's varying tone, which in itself represents the greater human experience of life. Different instruments will have unique chances to express different forms of pastoral care through their instruments' special colors. Both brass and woodwinds have their own special voices throughout many different moods. Furthermore, showcase your band's best soloists, as there are several opportunities for solos in brass, woodwinds, and percussion.
