Ethan McGrath has set the 14th-century text, There Is No Rose of Such Vertu, for SATB divisi a cappella voices with occasional solos. Rather slow, with mixed meters, the music aptly captures the gentle wonder of the text. Largely diatonic, the harmonic language includes moments of lovely stacked harmonies and occasional dissonance.
