Three Scenes from Penn's Woods
Referring to the founder of Pennsylvania, William Penn, this suite of three appealing settings reflects on the origins and character of the state. The suite opens with the light-hearted 6/8 setting Punxsutawny Phil. Next is Moravian Hymn Variants which is solemn and rich-sounding, but with a brief spirited middle variation. Independence Hall concludes this well-written work in a stately and majestic style.
