This brief composition for solo French Horn with piano accompaniment is very accessible for young horn players. It was first performed by an 8th grade soloist. It uses the keys of G major and E minor (for the horn), and the horn range extends from B two spaces below the staff to E on the fourth space. There are a few sixteenth note passages (scale-wise at a tempo of quarter note = 98). The simple A-B-A form will be appealing to young players. This piece will be a good vehicle to introduce your young horn students to solo playing.
