"Undoing of the Three" is inspired by an earlier composition for voice and piano about enneagram type 3, which is part of an art song cycle called "EnneaMuse: Suffering & Wholeness". Each of the enneagram types are intricately complex, so this piece is one portrayal of many possibilities. I chose to highlight the fast-paced nature that type 3 tends to have. They are constantly in motion, so there are very few moments of rest and, when there is, they are very brief. The right hand shows off its ability to leap, dance around, shine and doesn't let mistakes stop them from moving forward. As the three keeps on doing without pause, more mistakes are made until something completely undoes them to the point where they crash; they are made to slow down. You'll hear some of those mistakes as occasional dissonance early on in the music. The dissonance increases before the "glissando crash" at the ending. Premiered by Fidan Aghayeva-Edler in Berlin, Germany on August 31, 2024.
