Variations on a Well-Known Hymn

Variations on a Well-Known Hymn is a setting of Holy, Holy, Holy for saxophone quartet (AATB). It begins with a beautiful statement of the hymn in homophonic texture. It is then gradually sent through variations which isolate the melodic components of the hymn while changing the harmonic structure, meter, and texture. This can be played by a medium-advanced set of players. This arrangement won composition honors at the 1996 MENC Biennial Convention. Duration is approximately 5:30.
