Visions
This four movement work is essentially a violin concerto, written at the request of the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. The choir is important, but a part of the accompanying texture. The work can be performed by three instrumentalists and chamber choir or an enlarged string section, harp, violin solo and treble choir. The movements are entitled: Processional and prelude: Jerusalem the blessed; Arise, Shine; Lament for Jerusalem; and Finale: The holy city and include English and Latin texts. The choral parts are moderate in difficulty, due to range, and the instrumental parts are of moderately-advanced difficulty. A great new addition to the solo violin repertoire as well as the choral repertoire!
