Publisher Desc.  Voyage Of The Dreadnaught a level 2+ to 3- Concert Band piece commissioned by the Oceanside Middle School 8th Grade Concert Band, Oceanside, NY, Mr. Kevin Weibley - Director. Mr. Weibley had two requests. The first was that the piece be exciting. The second was to try and incorporated the chimes of the schools doorbell in the piece as they reminded him of the trumpet opening to the Florentiner March. This became the theme for the work. Mr. Weibley describes the fast sections as flying on the water in a speed boat! Excitement achieved! The middle section has a wonderfully melodic 3/4 English sea chantey feel featuring flute, clarinet, & trumpet soloists. Enjoy! The challenges of this work are some of the accidentals in the parts. The instrument parts and rehearsal work parts have fingering (slide) indications for the brass above or below notes. For woodwinds there are numbers that correspond to a small fingering chart at the end of the part as a reference. A companion set of rehearsal aids is available for purchase entitled "Voyage of the Dreadnaught Worksheets". It contains a full score and parts of all of the more challenging sections of the piece transposed for every instrument to play in rehearsal setting (percussion has appropriate percussion parts extracted from the score).
