The Woogie
Composed and arranged by jazz great Wycliffe Gordon, The Woogie is a boogie-woogie shuffle originally composed for the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra. It's been brought down to the medium-easy level by the composer without losing the great feel and character of the original. Written or ad lib solos are provided for trumpets 1 and 2, trombones 1 and 2, tenor 1, baritone sax and there is a drum solo at the end, too. This chart can be played as a swing shuffle or a boogaloo rock groove, either way it's hot! This is a really cool blues tune with some nice ensembles for the whole band.
