Woolly Mammoth March

Inspired by the long-extinct mammoths that once roamed the earth, the piece opens with a brass fanfare and heavy music representing the massive size of these giant creatures. A contrasting softer section shows the more gentle side of this intelligent and emotional mammal. The work closes with thunderous stomping. In the last bars of the piece, the musicians are encouraged to stomp in rhythm when playing sustained notes.
