This is the last movement in "A Celtic Suite". Reels tend to be felt in 2 and can have slightly swung feel about them. This movement is perhaps the most colorful, since the melody is highly repetitive throughout the entire piece. However, the melody is passed around in a lot of the instruments frequently and features a melodic instrument rarely used in in band compositions and arrangements, the xylophone. Again, the percussion section should really like this piece because the percussion section is active throughout the entire piece. This piece is challenging for everyone, a lot of fun to play, and is sure to be a crowd pleaser as an concert opener or closer and suitable for contest or performance assessments.
