A Hoot and a Half Note

Essentially a way to introduce beginning students to the appearance and rhythm of half notes, the whimsical title is a tie-in to the music lesson. Musically, it's a very simple march consisting entirely of half notes. Except for snare drum and bass drum, all instruments have an opportunity to learn the rhythm and appearance of half notes. Quite suitable for a concert performance by a first-year band.
