[Based on Contrapunctus I from "The Art of Fugue"]
Despite the cantabile character of this work, it must be taken into account
that, although Bach did not determine it, AAAThe Art of the FugueAAA was
thought to be performed with instruments. For this vocal version of the first
fugue in the series, I have used the Agnus Dei text, which fits very well
with the character of the music.
The original tonality has been maintained and some rhythmic values have
been subdivided in order to incorporate certain syllables in the text. Some
very short passages have been exchanged to the lower or upper 8TH (and some
notes). Some vocal exchanges have been made between alto and tenor in order
to achieve a more favorable voicing.
