Inspired by the aria “Ombra mai fú” from Handel’s opera Serse, this Agnus Dei is an expressive arrangement for High Voice Solo, Violin Solo, SAB Chorus and Piano. The Soloist range is D4–A5 (Tenor D3–A4) with optional lower notes for those times when the most dramatic pitches may not be appropriate. An instrumental interlude provides a moment for quiet reflection and an elaboration of the “dona nobis pacem” provides a modest and touching closing cadenza. Agnus Dei is suitable for church service or concert. The solo Violin part is included. Also available with organ accompaniment.
