This setting of the traditional Agnus Dei Latin text from the Requiem Mass was specifically written to honor the memory of the numerous victims of the senseless mass shooting tragedies of the summer of 2016. With a very open harmonic texture, almost a cappella with its minimalist piano accompaniment, this setting weaves between consonance and dissonance with simple contrary vocal lines over an insistent single note that tolls in the piano until all voices combine in meditative, somber harmony. This piece will evoke a reflective moment in your concert or worship setting. A pronunciation guide and translation are given for the Latin text.
