Akama

This is a blazing uptempo composition featuring improvised solos for alto saxophone and guitar. This chart is a great vehicle for showing off your band's skill at navigating the modern bebop style. A virtuosic melody is presented by alto sax, trumpet, and guitar, punctuated by aggressive brass hits. After the solos, the sax section plays a soli followed by a tuneful shout chorus and a recap of the melody. This arrangement was commissioned by Ted Newton and the Moreau Catholic High School Jazz Ensemble. No doubles are required of the saxophones.
