The pieces are longer in Book Four, generally one or two pages in length, and offer much musical interest. Many short biographies of composers, lessons in music history and music theory are featured. New concepts such as 6/8 time, ledger lines, blocked chords, relative major and minor keys and scales, and sixteenth notes are introduced and supported by pieces.
