Alice Parker's now-classic arrangement was first performed by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Choruses in December 1972 under the leadership and commissioning of Robert Shaw. This arrangement masterfully keeps the feel of the traditional chant while adding glorious choral harmony and accompaniment for piano or organ.
