Tango for Clarinet and Piano

Written in occasion of the composer's daughter's senior clarinet recital, this piece evokes and imitates the sound of the bandoneon in its improvisatory-like passages, exploiting the wide register of the clarinet.  The intensity of the piano part perfectly complements the clarinet solo, adding the most and rhythmic cadence of a tango, making this piece enjoyable and interesting for the performers and audience as well.

Ballad for violin and piano

Meditation is a delicate and expressive romantic piece for violin and piano which the violin plays a song without words. The piece reaches an intense climax in the coda which leads to a chorale-like section marked "like a prayer" finishing with the plagal cadence known as the "Amen" cadence. The two major 7th chords at the cadence create a solemn and peaceful mood at the end.

Meditation is suitable for weddings, anniversaries, religious celebrations and concerts as well.

The piano part imitates the guitar with its arpeggiated figuration, which blends perfectly with the voices creating a mystical, magical and expressive sound. 
"Sleep my little baby, Jesus" follows the traditional song form A-B-A structure, and its simple and smooth melody makes it pleasant and accessible to any type of audience.

A Christmas Overture

This Overture, based on the XVIII century English carol  'Joy to the world', was written during the time of the COVID pandemic in 2020, which was  the year the world celebrated the 250th birthday of one of the greatest composers in the history of music L.V. Beethoven. This miniature Overture represents a humble tribute to him and evokes his symphonic, brilliant, and powerful finales of many of his symphonic works. Its reduced orchestration for small ensemble responds to the restrictions in social interactions due to the pandemic. Even with this reduced orchestration, the Overture can carry the symphonic sonority using creatively the use of tremolos in the cellos and double bass, imitating the powerful sound of the timpani. 

Instrumentation: violin I &amp; II, viola, cello I &amp; II, double bass, 1 oboe, and 2 Bb clarinets.

Danza Encuentro is a romantic character piece written in the Puerto Rican nationalistic style called "Danza Puertorriquena". This instrumental genre developed during the nineteen century has its roots in the Spanish Contra-danza. During mid nineteen century the dance received influence from the "habanera cubana", the European romantic movement, and the Afro-Caribbean rhythms already developed in the island by that time. 

The Puerto Rican Danza reached its maximum development as an instrumental genre separated from the dance under the hands of Manuel Gregorio Tavarez known as the father of the Puerto Rican Danza, and later under the hands of Juan Morel-Campos who finally established the structure and its unique style writing around three hundred Danzas.

Contemporary Motet

The contemporary motet Alleluia evokes the style of Renaissance motets of the late 16th Century. Although the piece is a neo-classical work showing the typical polyphonic texture of this genre in imitative counterpoint, its harmonic treatment, rhythmic approach and compositional techniques respond to the modern period of the 20th Century. The first part of the motet has a polyphonic texture, while the second part has homophonic and homorhythmic textures.
