Anthracite Blaze

Using only seven notes, this work for beginning band conveys the atmosphere of the dark world of coal mining and the title refers to the blazing inferno created when these mines caught fire. Descending scales depict the miners travel into the mines while ascending scales suggest the struggle and hope for a better tomorrow.
