April Frenzy is a musical depiction of the phenomenon that takes place in the lives of music students and their teachers at all levels during what T.S. Elliot described as "the cruelest month." All the deadlines, recitals, concerts, exams, term papers, and all other events are coming to pass in a seemingly endless swirl that can be overwhelming. To push forward, however, and to emerge on the other side of the April Frenzy is to become a seasoned musician. April Frenzy was commissioned by the Kickapoo High School Band under the direction of Troy Peterson and Jordan Nimmo in 2020, but due to the pandemic, it was not premiered until 2024 by the Missouri State University Wind Symphony under the direction of Matthew Boswell.
