This timeless chorus based on Psalm 42 is given a new treatment with the addition of instrumental parts for flute, clarinet, horn, violin, and cello or bassoon, and a piano accompaniment which provides just enough color to heighten the impact. With easy-to-learn choral parts, the anthem builds to the final refrain and key change, singing "You alone are my strength and shield; to you alone may my spirit yield." This is a useful prayer of commitment and our longing to worship God.
