As the Sun Rises

While not strictly programmatic, this piece was inspired by a stunningly beautiful sunrise at the beach. The opening bars depict the soft glow of light that precedes the appearance of the sun itself, while the rest of the piece is an expression of the sense of joy, awe, and our own smallness compared to the beauty of the sun rising over the ocean.
