At the Edge of the Sea

This energetic composition depicts the sounds and activity associated with coastal waters. The motion of birds along the coastline is successfully characterized through the use of moving eighth notes, larger intervals, accents, and some mixed meter. Major seventh harmonies create a lovely palette of sound, and the variety of rhythms in 3/4 create excitement and plenty of teaching opportunities.
