Based on the famous poem by Robert Burns (1759-1796), this setting of the traditional Scottish folksong is very accessible for emerging SATB choirs. The sopranos/tenors and alto/bass sections often share the vocal lines in octaves for a fuller sound, yet an easier read for younger groups. The piano part is simple, mimicking bagpipes, and there is a lovely flute part (optional) which I think really adds to the entire piece. I've used the Scottish as closely as possible but keeping it as open as I could for vowels sake. Great any time of year, but could work really well as a closing piece on your winter concert or graduation.
