Aurum

“Aurum” was written for and commissioned by The Brews Brothers Duo (Bill Mann and Jemmie Robertson) for their 2024 ITF Premiere Performance and Consortium Members: Dr. Mark Babbitt (Illinois State University), Dr. Carson King-Fournier (University of Wisconsin-Whitewater), Alex Handley (University of Southern Mississippi), Jacob Hardy (Indiana University, DM), Dr. Bill Haugeberg (Connexus Duo), Christian Heck (Indiana University, DM), Dr. Will Porter (Ithaca College), and Dr. Nick Sullivan (University of Lethbridge). Premiered on May 30, 2024. Program notes: How many of us can relate to the following scenario: Waking up to the sound of the clock alarm, rushing to get to the job, multi-tasking, trying to complete everything faster, and then being overwhelmed and burned out? Then, repeat it the next day, the next week, the next month, the next year... How to find minutes of calmness, stop by flowers blooming and inhale their fragrance, listen to birds singing, and be grateful for each sunrise and sunset?
