Ave Maria

Usually performed as one of the composer's 'Four Sacred Pieces' this miniature masterpiece was Verdi's response to a challenge where composers were asked to create a piece over an enigmatic, supposedly arbitrary, scale. Although originally for four solo voices, the music transcribes very well for brass and can be played in a religious or secular context. Alternative parts are supplied to address just about every possible combination of brass instruments.
