About the piece: "Ave Maria is a composition I composed in the spring of 2018 while working on my Masters. I have always loved Bruckner's motets and wanted to emulate him, but with a slight harmonic twist. This piece is my attempt to portray the importance of this traditional Catholic prayer and of Mary in the scriptures. I try to add meaning and representation for her story and suffering. For example, in bar 11 the tenors & basses begin a motive with the text "Jesu," which occurs three times in succession to represent the holy trinity and symbolism of the 3rd hour in Christ's passion." I hope you and your choir enjoy this setting of Ave Maria.
