Away in a Manger

This short arrangement (1:23) based on William J. Kirkpatrick's setting is scored for combined woodwind quintet and brass sextet plus organ. It begins and ends with a single instrument, adding others as it goes and then removing them one by one until the conclusion. While some services of lessons and carols end on a triumphant note, others conclude quietly. The intention of this work is to complement the quiet ending.
