Ayre and Allegro

These two contrasting pieces by the well-known English composer, Henry Purcell, offer challenges both lyrically and technically. Both movements are in D minor. Violin 1 and Cello must play in positions, with optional shifting for Violin 2 and Viola. The second movement requires some demanding technique with rhythmic independence.
