Tchaikovsky' Fantasy Overture on Romeo and Juliet is one of the most iconic pieces of classical music.  It includes the famous music depicting the battles between the two feuding families (Montagues and Capulets) and also the soaring 'Love Theme,' that has been quoted in many TV shows and movies.  This transcription is faithful to the original, but only includes the last half (about 9 minutes) of the original.  It has also been transposed down one half step to a more friendly band key.  Here is a great opportunity for advanced bands to perform one of the great pieces of the standard orchestral repertoire.

Jerusalem is one of England's most popular patriotic songs and has been  part of many ceremonies and state occasions.a  This stately version will add a bit of pomp and dignity to any  concert.

The Parting Glass is attributed to both Scotland and Ireland and was the  most popular song of farewell before Auld Lang Syne.a This setting can be performed by band  alone, or with solo voice or choir.a An  optional (though highly recommended!) bagpipes part is included.

An original musical romp in the style of an Irish reel, Un Reel is fun for musicians and audiences alike.

Saint-Saens' masterwork comes to life in this transcription for concert band.  This setting is complete and faithful to the original, retaining the key, texture, and color of the orchestral version with slightly enhanced percussion parts.  It captures the excitement of skeletons dancing at midnight, and is ideal for any concert, especially around Halloween!

Danse Macabre

Prokofiev's quirky, yet powerful, music for orchestra is now available in a setting for concert band.  Taken from a ballet score based on Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, this movement has achieved 'standard repertoire' status, and has been quoted in many TV and film shows.  This transcription is in the original key and retains and the passion and drama of the original.

Montagues and Capulets

Nessun Dorma, an aria from the opera 'Turandot,' is one of the most powerful pieces of music from all genres.  It is part of the standard opera and concert repertoire, and has been featured in many movies and TV productions.  Although there are many good settings of Nessun Dorma for band alone (and in more band-friendly keys), this transcription is in the original key of D and is intended for performance with a tenor soloist.  With the right singer, this piece will introduce your band to an iconic aria - and all bring down the house!

Non Piu Andrai is one of Mozart's most beloved arias.  It's from The Marriage of Figaro, and features a bass/baritone with concert band accompaniment.  This transcription is in the original key of C and is in a light-hearted march style.  Although the Classical style is present throughout, a few modern touches have been added - mainly through enhanced percussion.  This is a delightful concert selection, perfect for featuring a strong male vocalist with your band.

Non Piu Andrai

Je veux vivre (I want to live) from Gounod's famous opera is often sung in recitals and is a great showcase for a talented soprano.  This transcription is in the original key (F major) and is perfect way to feature a vocalist with your band and to introduce your musicians to this wonderful music.  This cheerful and energetic song will add variety to your program and is sure to dazzle your audience!

Juliet's Waltz (Je veux vivre)

<p>Shouldn't 'Going Home' by a happy occasion?  After Dvorak's famous melody, this piece leaps into a jig, then combines the jig with the Going Home theme. You will want to run for the front door!</p>

This powerful arrangement highlights the central message of this American  spiritual:a the desperate and intense  desire for freedom which is common to all people across the ages.

'O Sole Mio was one of Pavarotti's favorite encore songs and (with different lyrics and the title 'It's Now or Never') was Elvis Presley's best selling record.  This traditional setting includes an optional accordion part that adds to the 'Neopolitan' flavor.  Though best presented with a strong tenor vocalist, 'O Solo Mio can be effectively performed as an instrumental solo.  Your band and your audience will love this popular hit!

This transcription includes three short movements from Mendelssohn's Incidental Music composed in 1842 to accompany a performance of Shakespeare's immortal comedy, A Midsummer Night's Dream.  The publication includes The March of the Fairies, the sprightly Scherzo, and the iconic Wedding March, and these pieces can be performed as set, or individually.  They are presented in the original keys and have the same original musical intent.
