These two etudes were written to introduce the melodic percussionist to different modes while strengthening technique. Each etude runs approximately one minute long. Great for building essential mallet techniques like runs at fast tempi and three-mallet work!

Written during a late October trip to the Oregon coast, this piece evokes scenes from the fall season. Expressive legato lines and light staccato passages build to a musical autumn storm. Approx. 6'

Cello Solo with Piano

"Jig," the first movement of Holst's beloved "St. Paul's
  Suite", is a celebration of the British folk music that profoundly
  influenced his work. A lively and lilting but forceful theme is introduced,
  alternating between 6/8 and 9/8 time, shortly followed by a second and more
  expansive theme which interweaves with the first. The music builds in
  complexity and tempo before coming to a fiery finish.
    
    
    
    This arrangement captures all the fire and spirit of the original setting
  for strings, while showcasing the versatility and range of mallet percussion
  instruments. The roughly 3- minute romp is a fun but accessible challenge for
  intermediate percussionists, with all parts utilizing two mallets.

Marimba Quartet

Format

Winner of the 2022 Best Symphonina of the Year Award, this thrilling short-form symphony is guaranteed to be an audience pleaser. The bombastic first movement shows off the grandeur of the symphonic orchestra, and will get hearts pumping and ears engaged. The third movement sends you on a sprightly chase through major and minor modalities. The second movement serves as a perfect foil for the other two, giving the piece overall, a warmer, more tender emotional core. The symphonina, a genre developed by Dr. David Fogel in 2018, aims to act as a gateway of sorts to the wide world of symphonic music. These short-form symphonies provide the experience of a full-scale piece, but with entire works never totaling more than twelve minutes in length perfect for programming a multi-movement work without committing an entire concert to it.
