Bavarian Dances is a brass octet piece celebrating the composer's South German heritage through means of a tribute to the oom-pah music of the region. It builds off the tradition in the form of a brass octet comprised of a standard brass quintet with the addition of a euphonium, horn, and flugelhorn. Although not challenging for most members of the ensemble, the solo portions for the trombone and horns may prove difficult for less experienced players.
