Be Thou My Vision has long been one of the most profound prayers of trust and surrender in the Christian tradition. When I approached this arrangement, I was drawn not only to the beauty of the text, but to its quiet insistence that God be present in every moment—by day and by night, in joy and in uncertainty. This piece grew out of my own prayer with these words and my desire to allow the text to speak with clarity and reverence. Rather than treating the hymn as something grand or declarative, I sought to let it remain intimate—an interior prayer shared aloud. Throughout the piece, the music reflects the text’s movement from petition to confidence.
