The traditional Irish melody Slane is the basis for this most interesting piece. A simple setting of the melody is followed by a stanza with the melody in the middle parts accompanied by optional treble handchimes. The next stanza modulates by ascending thirds through four different keys (with a few allusions to the "Alleluias" of All Creatures of Our God and King) until the last stanza triumphantly proclaims the expressions of the text "may I reach heaven's joys, O heaven's Sun!" This is another winner from Cynthia Dobrinski not to be missed.
